West Green House was built in the 1720s, with classical busts along its garden façade. It looks onto a plain lawn, and the sides are hedged in yew and hornbeam, running gently up to a woodland. This ‘theatre lawn’ is used for concerts and dramatic performances, with the house as a baroque backdrop.

"In an English country garden"
Highlights include an 18th century walled kitchen garden, an aviary, and a dramatic Persian water garden set in a woodland glade. The planting, by Australian garden designer Marylyn Abbott, is lavish and spectacular. A staggering 15,000 tulip bulbs are planted every year!
