11 acres of roadside and leisure heaven: Solstice Services

This is the last roadside refreshment stop before Stonehenge, which is about two miles further down the A303. Before you go, look out for the strange piece of sculpture that looks like a cross between a helicopter and a fly. Can you guess what it is?

The Dragonfly

Dragonfly sculpture, made from a recycled helicopter. Additional works of art are planned for Solstice Park. Send in your suggestions to us now!

Yes, of course – it's a dragonfly, as imagined by local artist Charlotte Monelon. It was built by apprentices from MoD Boscombe Down, using recycled parts from an old Gazelle helicopter. Further sculptures by the artist are planned for this site.

Suggestions for further art at Solstice Park

White Horse by M. Wilkie: I would like to suggest placing a giant white horse here just a few feet taller than the one planned for Kent.
Albatross by A. Mariner: How about a great big albatross made out of an old Jumbo Jet?
Burger 2 Go by Yummy Mummy: How about a giant gold burger that glows like a spaceship at night?
